Thy Word Have I Hid in My Heart
At Sunrise we are committed to learning Scripture because we believe that the Word of God is the only authoritative guide to life. We need the Bible. Memorising God’s Word stands us in good stead in later life. Most importantly, we memorise Scripture so that we might not sin against God (Psalm 119:11).
The best time to memorise Scripture is when you are young. For most of us, the best time is past, although it is never too late. At Sunrise we want to embed God’s living and active Word on our pupils’ hearts. We don’t spend a long time in class trying to learn our verses, nor is a lot assigned for homework. The children simply absorb God’s Word like sponges. What a blessing! One great thing is that the more they memorise, the more they use Scripture to explain themselves in class.
This year we have learned: Colossians 1:13-18, Proverbs 1:1-7, Romans 5:1-8, Genesis 1:1-13, and Exodus 15:1-6.
Listen to the pupils recite Proverbs 1:1-7
