Farewell to Mr McCollum
This Thursday afternoon, 30th March, a farewell party was held at the school for our head teacher, Mr Stephen McCollum and his wife Brenda and to everyone’s delight their daughter, baby Zoe was also in attendance!
Parents, children, all staff and members of the school board gathered to express thanks and celebrate Mr McCollum’s hard work and dedication to the school over the past two years.
P4-7 sang from Psalm 1 followed by remarks by the Chairman of the Board Rev. Andrew Quigley – a tribute to the invaluable contribution of Mr McCollum and Brenda to the development of the school.
Gifts were presented to the McCollum family including a scrapbook containing messages, and pictures from the children to help Mr McCollum remember his pupils for many years to come! Mr McCollum will certainly be fondly remembered by the school children, parents and teachers alike and we all wish Mr McCollum well as he continues to serve The Lord and embarks upon his calling to the ministry.
We thank all who brought refreshments, giving all present an opportunity to mingle. It was great to spend this time together with the McCollums, meet the board and teachers in a relaxed setting.
During the vacancy for the new head teacher post, the school will be led by our two teachers, Mrs. Anna Stewart (now acting head teacher) and Mrs. Danielle Campbell. In the meantime, the recruitment committee are working towards appointing a new Principal Teacher in August 2017.
We are grateful to the Lord for providing such a wonderful head teacher over the past two years and are looking hopefully to The Lord for what He has prepared for Sunrise Christian School in the future!
