Bird Watching
Then God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.” So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” So the evening and the morning were the fifth day. (Genesis 1:20-23)
Our P3-P7 scientists have been studying birds with Mrs Stewart. Check out some of these pictures to see what we have been up to.
Bird Watching
We got our binoculars out and went outside to see what birds we could see in the playground. We also went on a nature walk to spot birds in their habitats.
Making Bird Feeders
We used our ingenuity skills to design and make two separate bird feeders. One was made out of an apple and sticks. The second was made out of an old milk bottle. We had a lot of fun doing this practical science!
Bird Poetry
Mrs Stewart asked us to write poems about birds. You can listen to Satu’s wonderful poem on our Soundcloud page here.
Puffin Art
During Art we drew puffins. Check out our pictures.
Birds in the Bible
Some of the older pupils researched which type of birds appear in the Bible. We found it really interesting to learn some new Bible facts.
Mathematical Work
We looked at drawings of birds to different scales and calculated the true length of their wingspan.
Today we are studying how birds fly. It’s amazing to see the incredible design of God. He is an intelligent creator.
