A Word from our Dutch interns!
Hello there,
We are Alida and Wilbert-Jan, two Dutch students who are on an internship at Sunrise school for ten weeks. We have just completed our first few weeks and they have been amazing! The pupils are very friendly and the teachers are great. The Sunrise school feels like a big family as everybody likes each other.
In our first week we did a lot of things to help the pupils and the teachers. We made masks with the younger pupils and planted seeds with the older ones. We also helped during Maths and Language lessons. We are not just assisting but also have a lot of fun with the pupils. We played a lot of football with pupils at the school during break times. It was very exciting and fun!
There are a lot of differences between primary schools in the Netherlands and Sunrise Christian School. Sunrise has about 25 pupils. In the Netherlands that is just one class! Sunrise is a very small school with not many pupils, but that is positive because you get to know everybody very well. The Sunrise school tries to live according to the will of God. That is beautiful to see. Everybody tries to show their best talents during the lessons.
We are now looking forward to what our amazing internship here will continue to bring us! We are not here for that long, but we have already learned so much from the teachers and the children. We can’t wait to learn more!
